Questions people ask first¶
Is this AI? No. Nothing here generates text or decides anything. Each sentence is read clause by clause, and each part is placed twice, by fixed rules and by a fixed language model; both are positions, not judgments. No model writes, summarises or judges.
Does my text leave my computer? On Record, no. On Words, a paragraph goes to the server to be read and is not kept; a remark you post is kept, with where it was made but not the words. Your paragraphs go to a room only when you invite someone, and only the members who join can read them. What is kept has the whole list.
Can I check a result without trusting you? Yes. That is the point. A receipt's fingerprint recomputes in your browser; its anchor verifies offline against the public log; the kit reproduces the number with one command on your machine. How to check a receipt.
Can my business test its agents? Today, for Claude Code logs, yes, with the Desk password, until it is fully vetted: check a log. Other agents need their own written rule for their log format, tested before it is used; none is built today. Agent work.
Does it detect AI writing? No. It keeps a record a student can choose to hand in. Words, where a writing history is kept, is in private beta. Education.
Who runs it? The Commons Cooperative Company, a cooperative public benefit corporation. The Commons.
What is the catch? The checks are narrow by design, and the pages say exactly how narrow. What Habitat does not do.
Something on a page is wrong. Tell us: hello@thecommons.ooo. A wrong claim stays on the page, corrected in place with the date and the reason. The correction record.
